I saw this sandwich on social media and decided then and there that I needed to give it a try. I’m glad I did, because it was indeed outstanding. Greg, a friend of mine, saw my post and decided he had to try it that very night. His follow up message to me:
That’s the best sandwich I’ve had in a LONG time
Honestly, I don’t disagree. So without further ado, here is what you need, most of which can be easily sourced at Trader Joe’s or other outlets.
1 loaf Trader Joe’s roasted tomato and parmesan focaccia
Italian meat deli package (it has prosciutto, calabrese salami, and capocollo)
Burrata
Pesto
Calabrian chili spread
Arugula
Balsamic glaze
Extra virgin olive oil
Warm up the focaccia in the oven for a few minutes, then cut in half. Spread a generous amount of pesto on both pieces of bread. Spread the chili spread according to your tolerance (the Trader Joe’s Calabrian spread packs a bunch, so beware. Stack one side with the three meats. Put a good amount of arugula on the meat, then dress with the olive oil and the balsamic glaze. Top that with a broken open ball of burrata.
And that’s it! Get ready to have your socks knocked clean off.
